OUR DIRECTLY ORGANIZED OUTREACH
WARM FOR WINTER
Warm for Winter distributes warm clothing, blankets, sweaters, boots, hats, scarves, mittens and gloves to hundreds of people each year. Anyone can come to Friendly Village on Boyce Drive to pick out what they need free of charge. The event is held from 10 AM to Noon on the last Saturday of the month in August, September, October, November, December, January and February (and other times by appointment). Members of the congregation and friends from the community help in all aspects of this well used service.
BACK PACK/SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Ladies from the congregation and friends come together most Thursday mornings to enjoy sewing and quilting in the Fellowship Hall.
Our congregation participates in all five the special offerings of the United Church of Christ. This has earned us the title of a five for five congregation! Click here to learn more about the special mission offerings.
Fair Trade is a tool for reducing poverty in developing nations. It’s a form of trade that builds equitable and long-term partnerships between producers in developing regions of the world and consumers in the north. Fair Trade guarantees many things including the following.
Producers receive a minimum set price for their goods, financial and technical support, healthy and safe working conditions, economic development of their communities, and educational opportunities for their children.
Fair Traded consumables such as coffee, tea, and chocolate are available for purchase in our Fellowship Hall after worship services.
The White Gift Tree provides Christmas gifts to children and seniors in local nursing homes. 200 children and 40 adults received Christmas gifts from this effort in 2012.
