What to Expect at First Congregational
Everyone is welcome! Wear what you are comfortable in. Some will be wearing jeans or shorts, others will be wearing suits. God loves you as you are and we welcome you!
Bulletins (a program with the order of service) are available from the usher or in a basket just inside the sanctuary. Assistive listening devices are available, as are copies of the sermon for those with hearing difficulties. Please ask the usher if you’d like help with either.
We have childcare available in our nursery (birth-4 year olds) plus Kids Club for K-5th graders and Youth Group for 6th-12th grade students.
We welcome you to coffee and fellowship following worship.
How to find us:
We are at 135 E. Larch Street, between N. Stevens Street and the Rhinelander High School. There is plenty of parking on both the west side and east side of the building. The entrance on the west, nearest N. Stevens Street, is equipped with a handicap door opener. Our building is all one level.
Communion Table
You are invited to the Communion Table
Ours Communion Table is an open table. You are welcome to share the Sacrament of Communion with us on the first Sunday of each month. We receive the elements of bread and juice at the front of the sanctuary. If you prefer to remain seated, we are happy to offer you communion where you are.
Welcome to a Space Designed for Your Soul
When you step into our sanctuary, you will encounter a spiritual gymnasium for your soul. Here you'll notice prayer stations placed throughout the room. These are here for you — before worship begins, during the service, and after the final song. Just as we go to the gym to strengthen our bodies, we come to worship to grow our souls.
We know that sometimes what you carry through the door is something only God can see. If someone is on your heart — or something in our world is weighing on you — we invite you to light a candle and lift them in prayer.
If you'd like your prayer request lifted up during the service or held quietly in prayer by our pastor, write it down and tuck it into the birdhouse. It will be received with care.
If you are carrying anger, sadness, regret, or pain, we invite you to visit our Wall of Lament. Write your prayer, roll it up, and place it in the Wailing Wall. You are not alone in what you carry, and God meets us there too.
And if your heart is full of gratitude, let it overflow. Write a prayer of thanks on our Gratitude Wall for all to see — and invite others to join you in giving thanks to God.
