Moderator Musings

I am writing this letter in January. We are now in a new year and are beginning to turn a corner as a congregation. It feels a little like we’ve been treading water for the last couple of years, trying to be patient and yet wanting to begin again our Christian life with a settled pastor in our congregation. It hasn’t been easy, yet we have been trying to soldier through our time of uncertainty.
The year began with the long-anticipated announcement by the Search Committee that they have found candidates to fill our open pastoral position. As has been announced, they are a couple, Tim and Susie Grade, who are Wisconsin natives. They are both ordained pastors who have been living and working in Denver, Colorado for 23 years. They will be conducting their candidate service in late March, with a congregational vote immediately after the service. On June 1 they will be available to begin here, after their children’s school year ends.
We have some changes in the makeup of our boards and committees which are to be voted on at our January 26 annual meeting. We welcome the new members and thank the previous and current members for their service. Carla Chropkowski has served as our moderator for two years, and we are grateful for her willingness to stay on for that extra year.
This is a time of enthusiasm, hope and joy for our congregation. We are looking forward to getting to know the new pastors and their family and embarking on our newest adventure together. We are moving forward as a congregation. In God all things are possible!
